The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, strongly oppose the City of Temecula’s proposal to construct a public trail (Temecula Loop) approximately 15 feet from the backyards of homes along the south side of Temecula Creek.

This proposal raises serious concerns regarding safety, privacy, and quality of life. Allowing unrestricted public access so close to residential properties increases the risk of trespassing, crime, noise disturbances, and other unwanted activity directly adjacent to our homes. Homeowners should not be placed in a position where their sense of security is compromised.

Additionally, this plan threatens the natural habitat along Temecula Creek. Preserving remaining wildlife areas should be a priority. Increased human traffic in such close proximity to this ecosystem will disrupt the wildlife that depends on it.

Equally concerning is the lack of meaningful community engagement. Residents most affected by this proposal were not adequately consulted or given a fair opportunity to provide input before moving forward.

We respectfully urge the City of Temecula and its council members to:

  • Halt any plans to open the southside gates along Temecula Creek to public access
  • Reevaluate the proposed trail location to better protect residential neighborhoods
  • Consider utilizing the north side of Temecula Creek for public trail development instead
  • Prioritize the safety, privacy, and wellbeing of existing residents
  • We ask our city leaders to represent and protect all members of the community by making decisions that reflect the voices and concerns of the families directly impacted.
