Stop Sony from publishing digital games exclusively
Il problema
I've been a fan of video games since I was a kid, and collecting them is a key part of my passion. For me, owning a game means having a physical piece that I can touch, store, lend or resell. Now, Sony has announced that it will release its games exclusively in digital format from January 2028. This paradigm shift not only threatens my hobby, but has far broader implications for the entire video game industry.
Sony's decision could lead to serious consequences for physical game retailers, many of which would quickly see their business fail. Digital games tie us to a licensing system that can be revoked, exposing us to the risk of losing all our purchases if the company decides to withdraw some titles from the servers one day. Moreover, as enthusiasts, losing the ability to physically collect games is a blow, because you lose the charm and value of having a tangible collectio
Sony risks achieving an absolute monopoly on the purchase of games, limiting our freedom of choice and access to the alternative market for used games. In an age where digital seems to be prevailing, we need to remember the importance of physical possession and our ability to decide what to do with our purchase
I ask Sony to review this decision and continue to offer games in physical format as well. Preserving diversity in the way we can buy and collect games is critical for the gaming community and the entire ecosystem, supporting small and large businesses, collectors and players in genera
Please join me in signing this petition for Sony to consider our concerns and ensure that physical games continue to be part of our future as gamers. l.s.n.
