Stop Solano County's Disrespectful Advocacy of Homelessness
The Issue
We are a group of concerned citizens appalled by the disrespect and dishonesty of Solano County's government. This stance is not born out of baseless accusations but from personal experiences that we cannot disregard any longer. In 2004 and 2007, Solano County approved construction work and now they advocates for homelessne.
Instead of fulfilling these obligations, they are taking actions that contradict their previously stated intentions.
The instance that brought this to our attention involves putting on the street two pregnant women, an autistic child, and a special education child, tenants who are now facing eviction. An easy solution exists, yet the county refuses to entertain it. Instead, they are issuing certified letters, resorting to unreasonable measures, and documenting lies in public record, claiming nothing can be grandfathered in. This matter is deeply personal, not just for us involved but for everyone residing in Solano County who believes in both justice and honoring commitments.
Homelessness in Solano County is a grave concern. According to Solano County's 2020 Homeless Count & Survey Comprehensive Report, the number of homeless individuals has seen a spike of 43% since 2018 with a total of 1,080 people currently homeless in the county. This is a figure set to rise if the county's actions continue.
We call out for Solano County to uphold the commitments they have publicly agreed to, to offer humane resolutions instead of enforcing homelessness. Let's ensure that our government honors its word. It is a responsibility they owe us, the residents of Vallejo, CA, USA. We ask for your support. Please sign this petition and stand with us in this fight against the advocacy of homelessness by Solano County.
