Stop Sloth World: Require Inspections Before Animals Arrive

The Issue

31 sloths died before Sloth World in Orlando even opened.

In Florida, a restaurant cannot serve a single meal until it passes inspection. But a wildlife facility can bring live animals onsite before it is fully inspected and operational.

That is not just a loophole. It is a failure.

Animals are being placed into environments that have not proven they are safe, ready, or compliant. And when something goes wrong, there is no clear system that guarantees accountability.

This is preventable. And it must change.

We are calling on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Florida lawmakers to act now:

  • No animals onsite before full inspection approval
  • Mandatory reporting and citation for animal injury or death
  • Routine, unannounced inspections
  • Public access to inspection results and violations

Animals cannot advocate for themselves.

If you believe they deserve protection and accountability, sign and share this petition today.

Thank you to everyone who started this petition and signed on. We have been fighting for weeks now to not just hold the so-called 'Sloth World' accountable, but also to push for long-term policy change so that this never happens again. Please continue your advocacy, and thank you for caring!
