STOP!! SIGN THE 2nd CHANCE ACT PETITION!

In USA 2025, felons are the only group of people in The United States that can and are legally discriminated against in all avenues of their lives. Housing, jobs, schools, post-secondary education, and much more.

Felons are constantly and consistently treated as second class citizens. However, did you know that the average American commits 5-6 felonies a day?! The main difference is one gets caught and the other one has yet to, or, doesn't even know that they've committed said felony.

With this said, here in Lowndes County, Mississippi; I have been speaking out about this matter and even spoke in front of my local city council on the matter last year. A lot in this country is in need of changing and a lot is currently changing as we go into 2025.

So I ask you to help me keep making changes. This change would be to allow felons a 2nd chance at some things in life that are essential to ones morals and continued rehabilitation. For example, I am a multiple time cancer winner and a felon as well. I am a non-violent, non-drug related, victimless crime felon. However, did you know that this disallows me to even VOLUNTEER in most places? As a lifetime cancer patient who started his first fight at 11 years old. I have wanted to donate time to children's cancer wings at hospitals many times over and always here the same answer. "NO" or "I'm sorry, we don't allow felons to volunteer." Even at other places like nursing homes. If my parent or loved one was in a nursing home, I couldn't even volunteer in the very nursing home that my loved one was in because I am a felon. My felony was from 18 years ago and yet i am, like MILLIONS of other men and women of this country, treated as "less than" all because of a title that was placed on us for what could be various many reasons.

Signing this petition would allow felons here locally (whom meet certain requirements) to volunteer their time at various places. 1st responder, volunteer firefighter, nursing home, hospitals, etc.

Now, lets forget the societal norm that is drilled into your heads that felons are just terrible people and see these folks as they are, human! As stated, I am a felon. I am also a full time job holder, full time small business owner, Non-Profit Member, political activist and community lover.

This ideal would start with but a handful of individuals and hopefully grow with time and would work hand in hand with said fields (medical, fire, etc) and be very closely monitored by the proper authority figures until them and the public feels comfortable putting a little more slack in the leash, so to speak. We want to be treated as we are, U.S. Citizens, with EQUAL RIGHTS!!!! As felons, our rights are CONSTANTLY infringed upon and we all know that our inalienable rights do not come in degrees!! Yet, somehow here we are begging for those inalienable rights! I urge you all to be on the right side of history!!!!

AT THIS TIME I CHALLENGE THE PUBLIC TO HELP ME HELP OTHERS & I CHALLENGE ALL LOCAL DECISION MAKERS AND POLITICIANS ALIKE TO DO THE RIGHT THING!!!!!

The journey of 1000 miles starts with 1 step. I took the first step, help me finish the walk!!!
