The Issue

Stephen F. Austin State University has begun using AI to create images for promotional content for the school and school events. This not only attributes to the theft of real art by AI and the environmental damage it does, but it takes away opportunities for students to create art in a professional setting for promotional purposes, which could be used to gain valuable experience and expand their portfolios and resumes. As of Fall 2025 according to “Fast Facts for Lumberjacks 2025” we have 306 Art majors at SFA, and instead of giving an internship or employment opportunity for these students, the school has chosen to use AI to generate images.

Sign this petition so I can use it during my attempt to discourage AI use by SFASU where we can instead increase opportunities for students to grow their skills and resumes.
