Petition updateStop Sending FIVE Live ELEPHANTs From Assam To Tamil Nadu Temples

FIVE ELEPHANTS. 3,000 KM. ONE SERIOUS QUESTION.

People for Cattle in India (PFCI) PFCIChennai, TN, India
13 Sept 2026

Deccan Chronicle has now highlighted the growing concerns over the proposed transfer of FIVE young elephants from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples — Rupsing, Shiva, Hiralal, Durga and Bijuli.

With Durga reportedly only 5 years old and already on her way to Tamil Nadu, serious questions remain about their ownership, acquisition history, permissions, custody records and the circumstances surrounding their transfer.

Why should young elephants be transported thousands of kilometres to spend their lives in temples?

We demand transparency, independent verification and an immediate review of these transfers.

Elephants belong in forests and with their herds — NOT in temples.

Five elephants: Durga, Hiralal, Shiva, Rupsing & Bijuli are at risk of being transferred from Assam to temple captivity in Tamil Nadu

Please act now to stop further movement and protect their welfare.
