If Washington trophy hunters get their way, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will reverse their November 19, 2021 decision to ban spring bear hunting.

Thousands of people opposed the spring hunt, which targets bears when they're most vulnerable. The Commissioners who voted against the hunt stated that the spring bear hunt contradicts the agency's own science, research, and game management plan. The Commissioners that voted to ban the hunt were met with vitriol and death threats by upset hunters. One Commissioner resigned following the attacks. Commissioner Kim Thorburn encouraged and coached hunters on how to reverse the decision.

Washington bears, and the WDFW Commissioners who voted to ban the spring bear hunt need our support now more than ever. Trophy hunters created a petition to reinstate the hunt with over 20,000 signatures. We must take action now!
