The issue

We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed Music Festival/Rolling Meadows, to be held at 240 Lower Styx Road, from 29th December to 1st January for three years from 2025.

The proposed site is on private land bordering Lower Styx Road, Bottle Lake Forest and two residential properties.

We believe this is not the appropriate location for a Music Festival.

This will cause considerable disruption to the local residents and local communities.

There will be up to 5,000 campers on site, with up to 10,000 attending the party.

The effects:

  • Noise Disturbance – impacting local residents, other close communities, as well as the holiday campers at Spencer Park Camp Ground.
  • Traffic Problems – Lower Styx Road is a two-lane road with no hard shoulders. It is always busy during holidays but will have additional issues with 10,000 party goers coming and going.
  • Fire Risk – the venue is nestled in Bottle Lake Forest, and they are wanting a fireworks display.
  • Birdlife – disruption to our many birds that live in Bottle Lake Forest, Shepherds Stream Reserve, Spencer Park and Brooklands Lagoon.

Would Sub180, a company that's known for their music festivals, be willing to let the land sit unused for the majority of the year without trying to seek further applications? If this Resource Consent is "not notified" this may set a precedent with less red tape for any future events. As at 30/8/25 it is still awaiting Resource Consent with CCC. We believe there are enough affects and reasons to warrant this RC to be made "Public Notified".

Let the community be heard.
