The Issue

This petition is to show the community support for the continuation of Grace Community Church.  Many members have poured their hearts and souls into reviving Grace Community Church and now facing a new crisis of a potential takeover by Rockfish Church.  As the Grace Community Church members have opened their doors in support of brining the community together, our community has become close to the Grace Church members who are now facing a part of their lives being dismantled without many of their consent. They have fought hard to save the church and fostered partnerships with the community making Grace Community Church a rising cornerstone in our community—a sanctuary where values of compassion, community, and faith flourish freely. Now, it feels like that haven is under threat.

This issue strikes at the core of our community's identity and sense of belonging. When Grace Community Church was established, it was intended to be a congregation that provides spiritual nourishment, moral guidance, and a sense of family to all of its members. We are proud of the progress we have built together: a diverse congregation/community united under shared values and local stewardship that understands the unique needs of our community.

However, the recent information reveals Rockfish Church is working to take over Grace Community Church without all of their voices being heard or following of proper procedures. This proposed change has been pushed forward without an adequate voting process or transparent discussion with the congregation members and the surrounding community. Institutions like churches thrive on the trust and active participation of their members, and such significant decisions should be open for discussion and require clear support from the affected community members.

We are proposing a halt to the takeover process until a fair and transparent voting process is conducted, where every voice is heard, and all opinions are respected. Our goal is to ensure that any changes in leadership or associated partnerships reflect the wishes and well-being of the congregation and the community it serves.

We urge the leadership of Rockfish Church, Grace Community Church, and the local community to listen to their congregants, hold open forums for discussion, and allow for a fair vote. By doing so, they can demonstrate that they truly value the spiritual integrity and emotional investment of those who have contributed to Grace Community Church’s legacy over the years.

Let's stand together to support and protect the future of Grace Community Church from decisions made behind closed doors. Please sign this petition to demand transparency, fairness, and a proper democratic process regarding the future of this cherished place of worship and support structure for our families. Every signature brings us one step closer to a just resolution and ensures that our voices are heard.
