Stop Relocation of Great Bircham's Gym Equipment on Village Field

The Issue

The village playing field is more than just an open space for sports and recreation; it is a central hub where our community gathers, exercises, and builds health and friendships. Currently, there is a proposal to move the gym equipment from its current location on the village playing field, a move that might disrupt the accessibility and usage patterns cherished by so many residents.

The cost to the village would be in excess of £2500  - this money obviously coming from the precept on top of what it has already cost to install it where it is.

This gym equipment has been strategically placed for convenient access by individuals of all ages, allowing parents, elderly citizens, and youngsters to incorporate physical fitness into their daily lives with ease. Relocating this equipment could displace a significant number of its current users who depend on this location for its safety, visibility, and convenience.

The proposed location is suggested to be in the far corner of the field near the cricket nets too far for parents to supervise their children in the play area.

Physical activity is vital for our community's health, reducing rates of chronic diseases, improving mental health, and fostering a sense of well-being. According to the World Health Organization, regular physical activity is essential to maintaining physical and mental health and often requires accessible and well-located facilities.

Our village playing field's gym equipment already serves these purposes. Disrupting its current state could hinder the rate of positive health outcomes we have collectively achieved thus far.

Join us in urging the Parish Council to reconsider moving  this equipment - this unnecessary expenditure could be put to better use around the  village.

Please sign this petition to voice your support for maintaining the placement of our  gym equipment. Let's keep our community active, healthy, and thriving.
