Thank you so much to everyone who has signed and shared so far. We have reached 246 signatures, which is an incredible show of support from the Cairns community.
Unfortunately, we had another fireworks display tonight, adding to what has already been a very busy fortnight of noise along the Esplanade and Trinity Inlet. These repeated displays are happening right in the middle of:
- flying-fox maternity season
- bird nesting season
- shorebird resting
- a time when many companion animals are easily frightened
This update really highlights why the petition matters. The issue isn’t about stopping celebrations, it’s about asking for clearer guidelines so fireworks are used responsibly, at appropriate times, and in wildlife-safe locations.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported this so far. Please keep sharing the petition so we can keep building momentum and show that Cairns cares about protecting our wildlife and companion animals.
💚
