Thank you to everyone who has already signed and shared — it means so much. Every name added strengthens our case for wildlife-safe fireworks rules in Cairns.
Fireworks happened on both nights this weekend, and although I wasn’t able to capture clear footage this time, I will continue monitoring the upcoming display dates. These back-to-back events really highlight how unpredictable and disruptive the current situation is for wildlife and companion animals.
For now, the most important thing is building momentum so we can show Cairns Regional Council that the community wants simple, sensible changes such as:
• Fireworks only at approved council events
• No private fireworks in residential areas
• Wildlife protection zones in sensitive areas
