The Issue

At Harper Elementary, there are teachers enforcing punishments for using the restroom outside of designated times. Forcing the child to walk laps at recess in a means to embarrass them in front of their peers  is not acceptable. Access to a restroom when needed is a necessity and should be granted to all children, without any disciplinary action. Implementing punishments for bathroom use can cause children to fear relieving themselves while at school, which will cause them to hold their bladders. Continuously doing this while in the classroom can lead to urinary tract infections and other medical issues for young children. If you do not agree with punishments being implemented for our children using the bathroom while at Harper Elementary, please sign this petition.
