STOP PRODUCTION OF MY HERO ACADEMIA LIVE ACTION AT NETFLIX

The Issue

to the decision makers at netflix, legendary pictures, the creators of my hero academia, and everyone involved

we are asking that you cancel the live action adaptation of my hero academia that is currently being written by jason fuchs. while the idea of bringing the story to life sounds exciting, there are a lot of reasons why this project feels wrong for the series and for its fans.

the source material’s magic can’t be translated easily
my hero academia is more than a superhero story. it’s a japanese manga and anime that thrives on the energy of its animation style, pacing, humor, and emotional depth. so much of what makes it powerful comes from the format itself — the art, the expressions, the way battles and emotions are exaggerated to pull viewers in. once that’s flattened into live action, the heart of it risks being lost completely.
past live action anime adaptations almost never work
we’ve seen this before. so many beloved anime and manga series have been turned into live action projects that ended up disappointing fans and critics alike. even when the intentions were good, the result usually missed the tone, the heart, or the visual identity of the original. it’s a tough balance to get right, and my hero academia is not a simple story to adapt.
red flags are already showing
the project is being written by someone with no real background in anime adaptation. the approach feels more westernized than authentic to japanese storytelling. and because it’s being made for a global streaming platform like netflix, there’s a risk the story will be watered down to appeal to everyone instead of staying true to what made it special in the first place. the quirks, the culture, and the emotional complexity deserve better than a rushed or generic version.
fans and creators both deserve respect
my hero academia has one of the most passionate fanbases in the world. people deeply care about these characters and the messages they stand for. we’ve seen what happens when studios ignore fan input or rush to make something marketable over something meaningful. even if the original creator is somewhat involved, that doesn’t automatically guarantee the adaptation will stay faithful.
too much risk for too little reward
financially, this kind of movie is an enormous gamble. the effects alone would need to be perfect, and the worldbuilding would have to feel real without losing its anime roots. if it fails, it could harm not only the franchise but also its reputation worldwide. there’s more to lose than to gain by forcing this project forward.

in the end, this story doesn’t need a live action version to matter. the anime already does justice to the characters and their journeys. if netflix or legendary truly want to celebrate my hero academia, they should invest in more animated stories or spin-offs that keep the heart of the original alive.

please don’t let this be another case where a great series gets misunderstood and mishandled. cancel the live action adaptation and protect what makes my hero academia special.

NOBODY WANTS THIS. NOT A SINGLE MY HERO ACADEMIA FAN
