I have always been deeply moved by the beauty and diversity of ocean life. It is heartbreaking to see so many marine animals endangered due to plastic pollution. Each year, an estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic waste enters our oceans, posing a dire threat to marine life (source: National Geographic). This is equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world.

These plastics can take hundreds or even thousands of years to decompose, all the while breaking down into microplastics that are ingested by marine animals. This not only harms these creatures but also enters our food chain, posing potential health risks for humans.

We must act now and demand stricter regulations on single-use plastics and improved waste management systems globally. The survival of countless species depends on it – as does our own health and well-being.
