UPDATE:
REFERENCES:
BCC - BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL
RTSCTC - ROYAL TOWN OF SUTTON COLDIFELD TOWN COUNCIL
After an exhaustive amount of investigation and the reluctance of BCC to furnish me with any documentation here’s what i have found out.
To cut through all the jargon…….
The people behind the planning application for alterations to the Bulls Lane - Oxleys Road junction is the planning consortium for the Langley SUE development not BCC.
The consortium have not submitted in their planning application any transport assessments or modelling for the future increase of traffic on our village roads which should of been done and made available for the public to see along with the planning application.
The original proposal was for only a northbound junction on the opposite side of the A38 not a southbound junction.
Further information i have found out:
BCC in conjunction with RTSCTC outsourced a road traffic survey & traffic modelling assessment of Sutton Coldfield from 2017 through till 2031 taking into consideration current traffic volumes and predictions (including planned developments for Peddimore and Langley) going forward to 2031.
This was presented to RTSCTC at council meeting 14/12/2018 agenda No 99 and an update was received by RTSCTC at council meeting 17/2/2021agenda item 65
The road traffic assessment used a software based model called SATURN along with physical manual traffic counting equipment on highways in and around Sutton Coldfield.
The outcome of that report gave values of the amount of stress by traffic at junctions in and round the Sutton coalfield area. These are rated 80 - 90% GREEN 90 - 100% BLUE AND 100%+ IN RED
The image in the heading is from that report and i have highlighted for you the Wishaw area and the junctions close to us that will be effected by the Langley SUE project. These are all RED! indicating that they will be over capacity.
More importantly indicating that Ox - Leys Road - Grove Lane along with Holly Lane and Bulls Lane - Curdworth Lane will all be used as main thoroughfares in the future.
These junctions indicated are at:
Grove Lane - A446
Holly Lane - A446
M42 Dunton Island I.E Curdworth Lane
So even in the BCC - RTSCTC’s own report Ox- Leys Road and Grove Lane and our village in general will be subjected to massive & excessive volumes of traffic in the future.
Interestingly….. the said report and update documents give recommendations for junction improvements but guess what? theres only three and they are NOT any of the above junctions! or anywhere near Wishaw.
Even more interestingly …… The West Midlands & Warwickshire border cuts straight through at the Ox - Leys Road - Grove Lane Junction in Wishaw……So are BCC and RTSCTC really all that bothered ? Its not their area ……
All i can do is submit all your very kind signatures and comments to BCC today with a covering letter and hope that this will effect the BCC decision.
Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Chris
