As of today, May 25th, 2026, three pedestrian accidents involving a vehicle have been reported, with two accidents announcing the pedestrians deceased on site. These accidents all occurred around the same area and on the same road, and it is seemingly due to the lack of crosswalks. One of these accidents involved a sophomore attending J.R. Tucker High School, the school in which I attend. These accidents are deeply distressing to me, and seeing that a student at my school was involved in one is truly disconcerting. I noticed that there are few crosswalks on Broad St., which forces people to jaywalk. I hope that in creating this petition, the county will want to implement more crosswalks in this area.
