We all knew one day Lennoxville residents would have to fight developers who want make money from the Fairview Forest. Today, that day has come!

I just got off the phone with the owner of the OXFORD FOREST from Ontario. Although he himself was quite open to conservation for his 9 acre property behind Oxford Crescent his sons are now involved. 

When I asked him this morning what it would take for us to get the land into conservation, he simply replied NO. And that they "have a plan". 

The land has already been broken up off into 21 sections (see image), and is ready to build. 

This is forested land that borders the biggest stream in the area. Anyone living close by knows that deer, foxes, owls, and other wildlife are always around.

Nous savions tous qu'un jour les habitants de Lennoxville devraient se battre contre les promoteurs immobiliers qui veulent s'enrichir grâce à la forêt de Fairview. Aujourd'hui, ce jour est arrivé !

Je viens de raccrocher avec le proprietaire en Ontario. Bien qu'il se soit montré plutôt favorable à la conservation de sa propriété de 3,6 hectares derrière Oxford Crescent (connue localement sous le nom de forêt d'Oxford), son fils sont maintenant impliqué.

Lorsque je lui ai demandé ce matin quelles seraient les démarches pour que le terrain soit classé en zone de conservation, il a simplement répondu NON. Et qu'ils « ont un plan ».

Le terrain a déjà été divisé en 21 cadastre, prêtes à être construites.

Il s'agit d'une zone boisée qui borde le plus grand cours d'eau de la région. Tous ceux qui vivent dans le coin savent que les cerfs y sont omniprésents.

Il faut absolument la préserver pour les générations futures !

Faites pression sur le nouveau conseil municipal de Lennoxville. Contactez Bertrand Collins, président d'arrondissement, Frank Gilbet, conseiller de Fairview, et Claude Charron, conseiller d'Uplands.

Assistez à la prochaine réunion du conseil municipal (27 janvier) et demandez-leur quelles mesures ils comptent prendre.
