After talking at length with the fire dept and practically every office of the dept. I find that all this development is creating a real emergency service crisis. We have 6 less fire station in LA city than we did in the 80s, the stations are limited to how many fire fighters can be on each shift, and at this point crews are barely able to sleep during a 72 hour shift because of increase in calls. From 2022 to 2023 our station 62 has had a 10% increase in calls. the LA city fire department is current being sued for a slow response time that resulted in a death. Each of these 5-6 story buildings is like adding an entire block to each fire house call sheet. Think how many have been added to just the few blocks around us. Meanwhile the department budget has been cut and there is no budget for more station or mass hiring. To my mind this is the major concern with all this over development, at this point. If you have a health emergency drive to the ER.
