‘We the undersigned residents and visitors to Meriden object in the strongest terms to a proposed major green belt development which constitutes over development in Meriden.  (Application ref PL/2026/00900/PPOL - land south of Fillongley road) 

We urge Solihull Council to REFUSE this application which will: 

(a) destroy green belt countryside within a valued landscape - being an important part of the historic ‘Meriden Gap’
(b) adversely affect the setting of listed buildings and other heritage assets  
(c) overload local services 
(d) destroy precious ecology and degrade biodiversity 
(e) exacerbate local flooding problems 
(f) create traffic related congestion and increase risks to road users, pedestrians, horse riders and others
(g) undermine the production of locally produced food in high quality agricultural land 

We also reject any suggestion that this land represents ‘grey belt’ or that very special circumstances exist to justify development.
