Stop Orca family Transfers from France! #StopOrcasImport
The Issue
Moana passed away suddenly on 2023.10.17. The plan to export the remaining three orcas (Wikie, Moana, and Keijo) to Japan has not yet been withdrawn.
Even if they make it to Japan alive, they will be forced to live in an unfamiliar environment and forced to show for business.
They have just lost their beloved family members, and if they come to Japan, they may be split up into three facilities for breeding, which will further tear their families apart.
Please continue to sign the petition and help spread the word.
(Added on October 19, 2023)
The French government has enacted a new law banning dolphin and orca shows by 2026.
The purpose of the law is supposed to be, among other things, to protect and expand the rights of animals.
There is information that four killer whales currently at Marineland of Antibes in France will be exported to Japan.
The export of whales to Japan by the French government will not lead to their protection.
If they are exported to Japan, they will be separated from their families and used for show for business purposes and profit, with a high risk of being used for breeding and death during transportation.
We hope that the French orcas will remain there and that preparations will be made to release them into sanctuaries and marine reserves.
We are submitting a petition to Philippe Seton, French Ambassador to Japan.

Mr Philippe Setton, French Ambassador to Japan
Dear Mr. Ambassador,
We learned on May 21, 2023, that the captive orcas at Marineland d'Antibes (France) were to be transferred to Japan in 2024, information made public by the association C'est Assez! on May 22, 2023. The transfer was confirmed by the marine park's management in August 2023.
For a large majority of public opinion, for the caretakers who love their orcas, it seems unthinkable that such sensitive and intelligent animals should be sent to our country, where cetaceans are not officially recognized as mammals, but are considered mere "marine resources" to be used, mistreated, consumed and discarded.
In Japan, cetaceans do not enjoy the protections afforded to mammals, and fall under the jurisdiction of the Fisheries Agency, not the Ministry of the Environment.
In September 2019, Suma Aqualife Park in Kobe announced They announced a plan to add a new orca tank with time schedule of work for
completion in spring 2024. A conservation and breeding center will also be created in Kobe to promote cetacean breeding.
Marineland d'Antibes regularly presents its orcas as a family. However, it is highly likely that the orcas are separated and used as breeding animals to perpetuate an industry that claims so many innocent victims in the name of profit and human entertainment.
As Japanese citizens, we ask for your help in obtaining detailed information on the transfer of the orcas from Marineland d'Antibes to Japan. We also ask you to put your levers of action into action so that Wikie, Inouk, Moana and Keijo are never sent to Japan and remain at Marineland d'Antibes to better guarantee their well-being while awaiting a better solution such as a sanctuary.
It would only be fair to these orcas who have contributed so much to the park's reputation.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please accept, Mr. Ambassador, the assurances of our highest consideration.
