In 2023, Ohioans made our voices loud and clear: we voted to protect the right to abortion by enshrining it in our state constitution. That vote wasn’t close—it was decisive. It was democracy in action.

Now, just two years later, a group of lawmakers is trying to undo that decision with the so-called “Prenatal Equal Protection Act”—a bill that would criminalize abortion as homicide and threaten anyone involved, including patients and doctors, with prosecution. This bill goes against everything Ohio voters demanded and would strip away access to essential health care, even in the most personal, complex, and time-sensitive medical situations.

No one should be treated like a criminal for making decisions about their own body and future. And no lawmaker should override the will of the people to score political points.

We call on Ohio’s legislature to reject this dangerous bill and uphold the constitutional rights Ohioans voted for. Respect our vote. Protect our rights. Stop this ban.
