Stop new PUPPY MILL store "Waggles" from opening in Raleigh, NC

Stop new PUPPY MILL store "Waggles" from opening in Raleigh, NC
The Issue
Earlier this year, Raleigh's community came together to say NO to puppy mills when they united against Petopia. After being open for less than a month, our collective efforts succeeded, and Petopia was shut down.
Now, public outcry is needed once again: A new puppy mill store is trying to open on Raleigh's Creedmor Road: Waggles. We must act fast to stop them!
North Carolina has the second highest shelter euthanasia rate in the US. We need common-sense legislation against irresponsible breeding, accessible spay/neuter services, and more resources for our shelters and rescues. We do NOT need more puppy stores. Raleigh already has notorious puppy mill store Superstar Puppies and Morrisville has infamous Petland.
Allowing Waggles to open in Raleigh would:
- Reinforce animal exploitation: By purchasing puppies from Waggles, consumers would unknowingly contribute to the suffering of countless breeding dogs confined to inhumane conditions. Little to no protections exist for mother and father dogs exploited for commercial puppy breeding.
- Undermine our shelters and rescues: Our local animal shelters and rescue organizations are already overflowing with adoptable dogs in need of loving homes. Waggles would convince some naïve consumers to buy puppies instead of adopting, costing some shelter animals their lives.
- Damage Raleigh's reputation: Allowing a known pipeline for puppy mill dogs to operate within our city limits would tarnish Raleigh's image as a progressive and humane community.
We need to stand together against animal exploitation, support our heroic shelters and rescues, and protect our community’s values. We urge the City of Raleigh to utilize all available legal and zoning measures to prevent Waggles from opening its doors.
Let’s build on our previous victory against Petopia and send a clear message that puppy mills are NOT welcome in North Carolina. Sign the petition!
