We Protected the Westside Trail TOGETHER!

The Issue

In early 2018, after years of planning and design, it appeared that the Monterery Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail in Santa Cruz was being forced to make an unsafe detour onto surface streets. In less than 3 days, Greg Larson mobilized nearly 3,000 cyclists and walkers, families and seniors, students and visitors, residents and businesses, to JUST SAY NO!! 

And we were heard.  The last-minute detour of our long-awaited trail on to city streets was abandoned.

The entire Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail in Santa Cruz is now continuing to move ahead, with construction plans for the first phase being reviewed, and the design and environmental assessment from Davenport through the San Lorenzo River trestle underway.
