Stop NCAA from Slashing Cross Country and Track and Field Rosters

Stop NCAA from Slashing Cross Country and Track and Field Rosters
The Issue
As someone deeply integrated into the world of collegiate sports, specifically cross country and track and field, I am deeply concerned by the NCAA's proposed decision to cut cross country rosters from 17 runners to 10, and track and field from 45 to 35. This action threatens not only my personal aspirations of going D1 but also the dreams and endeavors of numerous friends and fellow athletes. More importantly, it risks dismantling the organizational structure of these sports we love, shaking the team environment that makes all sports prosper.
Furthermore, coach positions are now being placed in jeopardy. Coaches who have poured their heart and soul into nurturing and developing runners would face agonizing decisions, and many could potentially lose their job due to these roster cuts. This decision by the NCAA is driven by the desire to make a few extra dollars at the expense of the dreams and aspirations of student-athletes.
Sports are an integral part of academic life fostering team spirit, leadership skills, and overall personality development. While the financial aspect is important, it should not take precedence over the developmental goals of our collegiate sports programs.
We urge the NCAA to consider the negative implications of these drastic cuts on athletes, coaches, and the very spirit of collegiate sports. Sports are about more than just dollars and cents; they're about dreams, development, and unity. Stop this unnecessary downsizing and let's preserve the essence of cross country and track and field sports. Please, sign this petition and join me in taking a stand against these proposed cuts.
