Today I write to you with my heart in my hands. I am María, a mother who, along with my son, arrived in Canada on September 12, 2022, seeking a safe place to live. Our story is a mix of fear and hope, and now I ask for your support.

We lived in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, where violence was part of our life. Everything changed one night when we witnessed something terrifying: a body was thrown onto the street. From that moment on, our nightmare began. We received threats telling us that if we spoke out, our lives would be in danger. We had to flee, hiding in the trunk of a car, fearing we would be discovered. After passing through Monterrey, we flew to Mexico City and arrived in Toronto, hoping to start anew.

Since then, I have worked hard to give my son a better future. I applied for refuge in 2022, but in October 2023, my application was denied. I then filed an appeal in December, which was rejected in April 2024. Each negative response has been a devastating blow. We not only face the possibility of deportation, but returning to Mexico would mean putting our lives at risk.

My son is an 8-year-old boy full of dreams; he wants to be a lawyer and help others, just as we have been helped here. But fear is always with him. Every day he asks me if they will really hurt us if we have to go back. His desire to continue in school and grow in a safe environment fills me with anguish.

Now, with a removal order and tickets bought under pressure, time has become a torment. We have applied for humanitarian compassion because we love Canada and feel that we have found a home here. This land has embraced us, and we long for the opportunity to continue living in peace and tranquility.

That is why today I ask you, from the depths of my being, to join us in gathering signatures to stop our deportation. Each signature is a voice that defends hope and justice. We are racing against time, and your support can change our lives.

My brother and his family have supported us since we had to flee, but now we need more voices. We believe in the kindness and compassion of the Canadian community and trust that we can find the help we need.

Madre e Hijo frente a una DEPORTACIÓN que pondría nuevamente en riesgo sus vidas.

Hoy les escribo con el corazón en la mano. Soy María, una madre que, junto a mi hijo, llegó a Canadá el 12 de septiembre de 2022, buscando un lugar seguro para vivir. Nuestra historia es una mezcla de miedo y esperanza, y ahora les pido su apoyo.

Vivíamos en Reynosa, Tamaulipas, donde la violencia era parte de nuestra vida. Todo cambió una noche cuando presenciamos algo aterrador: un cuerpo fue arrojado en la calle. Desde ese momento, nuestra pesadilla comenzó. Recibimos amenazas que nos decían que si hablábamos, nuestras vidas estarían en peligro. Tuvimos que huir, escondidos en la cajuela de un carro, temiendo ser descubiertos. Después de pasar por Monterrey, volamos a la Ciudad de México y llegamos a Toronto con la esperanza de empezar de nuevo.

Desde entonces, he trabajado arduamente para darle a mi hijo un futuro mejor. Solicité  refugio en 2022, pero en octubre de 2023, mi solicitud fue negada. Después, presenté una apelación en diciembre, que fue rechazada en abril de 2024. Cada respuesta negativa ha sido un golpe devastador. No solo enfrentamos la posibilidad de ser deportados, sino que regresar a México significaría poner nuestras vidas en peligro.

Mi hijo es un niño de 8 años lleno de sueños; quiere ser abogado y ayudar a otros, como nosotros hemos sido ayudados aquí. Pero el miedo lo acompaña. Cada día me pregunta si realmente nos harán daño si tenemos que volver. Su deseo de seguir en la escuela y crecer en un ambiente seguro me llena de angustia.

Ahora, con una orden de salida y tiquetes comprados bajo presión, el tiempo se ha vuelto un tormento. Hemos solicitado compasión humanitaria porque amamos a Canadá y sentimos que aquí hemos encontrado un hogar. Esta tierra nos ha acogido y anhelamos la oportunidad de seguir viviendo en paz y tranquilidad.

Es por eso que hoy les pido, desde lo más profundo de mi ser, que se unan a nosotros en la recolección de firmas para detener nuestra deportación. Cada firma es una voz que defiende la esperanza y la justicia. Estamos corriendo contra el tiempo, y su apoyo puede cambiar nuestras vidas.

Mi hermano y su familia nos han brindado su apoyo desde que tuvimos que huir, pero ahora necesitamos más voces. Creemos en la bondad y la compasión de la comunidad canadiense y confiamos en que podemos encontrar la ayuda que necesitamos.
