Stop misleading 'free modelling assessments' and high-pressure sales

Stop misleading 'free modelling assessments' and high-pressure sales
The Issue
I recently experienced firsthand the deceptive practices of Look Studio (London) and Modelskit when I sought what was advertised as a "free modelling assessment" for my daughters. Upon arrival, it became clear that the real objective was not to assess but to ensnare us in a high-pressure sales environment. They pushed me into signing a contract filled with hidden clauses, including no cancellation or cooling-off period, trapping me into paying thousands. I immediately realized the deceit but was told cancellation wasn't an option.
This unfortunate event has fueled my determination to prevent other UK parents from falling victim to these tactics. It's not just my struggle; this is happening to countless others. Numerous parents and young aspiring models have been misled into these so-called assessments, only to face pressure into purchasing costly photo packages with no way out.
We must protect vulnerable consumers from these exploitative practices. I am calling on UK regulators and consumer protection bodies to launch an immediate investigation into these companies for misleading advertising and aggressive sales tactics. These tactics exploit the dreams and hopes of young people and their families, turning what should be an exciting opportunity into a financial nightmare.
These companies employ a systematic sales funnel designed to confuse and pressure consumers, often with misleading claims about guaranteed jobs and success. The practice of using a child's potential modelling career as a tool of manipulation must be stopped.
According to the Advertising Standards Authority, advertisements must not mislead consumers by omitting relevant information or presenting it in an unclear manner. Additionally, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 protect consumers from aggressive practices. Yet, these companies seem to operate outside of these guidelines.
It's time for a thorough investigation to hold these companies accountable and ensure ethical standards are upheld. Let's put an end to these predatory practices and safeguard other families from falling into these traps.
Join me in demanding that authorities take action. Sign this petition and contribute to a change that can protect your future and the dreams of many young models in the UK.
