Stop Mirpur English Version School (and Yahia Khan Rijon)

Stop Mirpur English Version School (and Yahia Khan Rijon)
The Issue
We, the students/former students and their respective guardians of Mirpur English Version School and College (MEVSC), have reached our breaking point and decided to speak on the notorious activities of this dirty institution and its diabolic Principal Yahia Khan Rijon (ইয়াহিয়া খান রিজন).
We respectfully submit this petition to bring your urgent attention to MEVSC's pattern of charging unlawful, arbitrary and exploitative fees. Their practices have caused financial hardship to our families and disrupted students’ ability to timely secure college admission.
Summary of alleged exploitative practices:
From our admission to up until now, the school charged students and guardians in any way they could come up with. Some examples are as follows-
- Arbitrary and exploitative admission fees:
Different students were required to pay different amounts at admission with no transparent schedule or justification. - Exploitative charges for failed-subject clearance:
Students who failed in one or multiple subjects in the final Test examination were forced to pay 1,000-2,000 taka per subject in order to receive their SSC admit cards.
"One of the students, Ashir Intesar Evan, failed to sit for any of the Test exams due to personal causes. He humbly sat for retake and excelled in all subjects. To prevent him from walking away just like that, they purposefully vanished his answer-copy of Bangla. At the time of handing out our admit cards in the conference room, Asad Sir (Coordinator) told Evan “Tomar Bangla khata ami pai nai” and attempted to charge him 2,000 taka for it. He fell silent when I asked him to check the CCTV camera of the exam room. At least 10 people witnessed Evan finishing his Bangla exam and submitting his copy. Seeing no choice, he peacefully handed Evan his WELL-EARNED admit card, but not before taking 500 taka from him ."
-And that brings us to the next point. - Exploitative fee for admit cards:
Each student was forced to pay Tk 500 to receive their admit card. - Arbitrary fee for ICT practical:
Students were charged Tk 500 (again) to attend/complete ICT practical/viva. - [LATEST] Illegal and unjustified fees for documents:
Finally, when students were letting out a sigh of relief, the school strictly charged Tk 1,500 per student for providing testimonial paper, the SSC Transcript, and SSC Certificate - necessary documents for a student to enter college, and progress any further in their academic career. MEVSC/Yahia Khan Rijon charged 500 taka for each of these three papers.
It is to mention that, The Academic Transcript and SSC Certificate are directly government-issued documents which should see no charge at all. (A testimonial may carry a small, reasonable administrative fee; however, charging for government-issued documents or bundling such documents for an excessive fee is unacceptable.)
Other hidden/unexplained charges and “development” or miscellaneous fees collected without clear receipts or Board approval.
Our Requests:
In light of the above, we request the Board/Ministry to take the following actions without delay.
- Immediate investigation:
Initiate an impartial and thorough investigation into MEVSC’s practices; especially of fees, collection methods, and record-keeping. - Halt unlawful practices:
Issue an immediate directive to MEVSC to stop charging any fees that are not explicitly authorized by the Board or the Ministry. - Refunds:
Order the school to refund all illegally collected money to respective guardians. - Assurance of documents:
Ensure that the Academic Transcript and Certificate of SSC are provided to students for free and that no student is forced to pay for documents that are the statutory responsibility of the Board/education authorities. - Fines and Sanctions:
Apply appropriate sanctions, including fines or administrative action, if the investigation finds violations of Board/Ministry rules; and require corrective measures and public disclosure of the school’s fee structure. Banning the school from continuing its activities will be largely appreciated and ensure justice. - Monitoring and compliance:
Institute periodic audits or monitoring for MEVSC (and similar schools) to ensure compliance with fee regulations. - Guidelines for parents/students:
Issue clear instructions to all schools under the Board’s jurisdiction clarifying what fees may be charged, maximum permissible amounts (if any), and the official process for issue/receipt of SSC-related documents.
Why should you care?
Because it is your responsibility to.
To honor the faith and effort of your family in rearing you up to be a moral and just human being.
To prevent the next batches from getting bribed.
Because change starts with YOU.
Final words:
We only intend to respect our parents’ hard-earned money. We are only abiding by the ideals of supporting what’s right, and opposing what’s wrong.
Please acknowledge receipt of this petition and inform us of the next steps. We are fully prepared to cooperate with your investigation, provide all available evidence, and give written or oral statements - as needed.
N.B.:
1) No evidence has been attached or mentioned to prevent the school administration from erasing them. (Does bribery involve receipts?)
2) Nor we are exposing our registration no. or roll no. to spare ourselves of any further abuse.
Respectfully,
Students of MEVSC
