Crowdfunding page for UK Consumer Champions Limited
Video: Crowdfunding UK Consumer Champions
Hi everyone!
Sorry for the delay on this, I tried to register a company called The Regulator Guy and it took a few days for that to be rejected because you can't use the word "regulator" in a company name, unless you are a regulator!
So, I've started UK Consumer Champions and I'm crowdfunding for the start up money. The point of this company will be to formalise what I've been doing as The Regulator Guy, which is dealing with consultations from regulators (primarily Ofgem to start with) focusing on consultations that affect our bills. I'm applying for various funds and grants to fund the business as well, if we manage to reach my extended target then I'll employ other industry experts to help me tackle the mountain of consultations that are open to the UK public.
As always, I'll be speaking on behalf of you so please do contact me and tell me your thoughts (richard@theregulatorguy.co.uk) and follow my blog to see mine (www.theregulatorguy.co.uk
The first link at the top of this update is to the crowdfunding page, please support with anything that you can, but DO NOT DONATE IF YOU CANNOT. I can't stress that enough, I don't want anyone who is financially struggling to put themselves further into difficulty. I appreciate anything that people can donate, whether it's £1 or £1,000,000 (obviously please don't donate that much money, I wouldn't know what to do with it!). The second link is a bit of a video explanation for the crowdfunding page.
The money will be used initially to fund starting the business, building a website, and paying my salary so I can focus on this work 100% rather than doing other jobs as I currently am. I'll use the first 3-6 months to find further funding for the business, to complete my report and recommendations on Ofgem's conduct over the last three years and to work full-time on consultation responses and engagement with Ofgem/government on the energy crisis. This is an exciting moment for us, formalising the creation of an organisation that's sole purpose is to fight for consumers in bringing down bills and turning the tide on the cost-of-living crisis.
I hope you don't mind me crowdfunding for this, the benefit of crowdfunding is that we can stick to our main goal of addressing financial consultations to hopefully bring our bills down, whereas getting funded fully by a single organisation elsewhere would mean we are beholden to their will which could differ to what we want to achieve.
Thank you again for your support, I'll be back on Monday with another video on this process and and update on the project report.
Have a great weekend everyone!
