Stop mandatory handwritten Python manuals in M.G.M College of Engineering

Stop mandatory handwritten Python manuals in M.G.M College of Engineering
The Issue
Like many of my fellow students in M.G.M. COE Kamothe, Panvel, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, I embarked on my journey into the world of coding with enthusiasm and the hope of learning new skills. Unfortunately, our current educational practice is stifling that aspiration. Our college educator has decided to make it mandatory for us to write out the Python manual by hand instead of allowing us to purchase it.
Initially, the reasoning provided was that writing would help us learn better. However, the reality has been far from this idealistic belief. Tasks like this become mechanical exercises that do not stimulate comprehension or creativity. The sheer volume reduces us to mere copying, instead of understanding the wealth of knowledge we are supposed to be absorbing.
As I sit for hours transcribing manuals, I feel my love for technology slowly turning into frustration. We live in a time where digital proficiency is essential yet our educational system confines us to outdated methods that don't align with real-world practices.
The requirement for handwritten manuals fosters an environment where fast writing takes precedence over genuine understanding. It leaves us with little time to engage with the exciting world of Python and related technologies and hardly prepares us for the challenges in the tech industry.
To make matters worse, our educator has threatened that providing printed manuals will lead to stricter Viva exam questions. Such a stance directly undermines our efforts and limits our ability to learn effectively.
I write this plea not just for myself, but for all my fellow students trapped within a system that values rote repetition over true learning. It's time for our educational institutions to embrace digital education, which allows us to explore, understand, and apply what we learn in meaningful ways.
I urge the concerned authorities in the education department, as well as our institution's administration, to reconsider this policy. Let us use printed manuals if we choose, so we can focus our energy on understanding the material, working on projects, and preparing ourselves for the future.
Please join me in calling for an educational reform that prioritizes meaningful learning experiences. Let us build a system that encourages curiosity, fosters creativity, and truly prepares us for a tech-driven world.
Help us bring about this change by signing this petition. The future of many eager learners in Navi Mumbai depends on it.
