A Perth-based company has applied for a mining exploration licence near Romsey and Lancefield, in the beautiful Macedon Ranges just outside of Melbourne. I know how beautiful it is because I’m lucky enough to live in that part of the world.

That’s why I’m trying to stop this mine before it begins, by calling on the government to deny this mining exploration licence.

I joke around all the time, some people may say I do it for a living. But I’m deadly serious about this proposed mine. I've seen what happened to the Hunter Valley from mining and I don't want it to happen here.

There are over 60,000 abandoned mine sites in Australia and only 21 have been rehabilitated, part of the ongoing phenomenon of mine abandonment in Australia. So I find mining companies very hard to trust, and have no reason to trust this one.
