This is a critical moment for our community. We need residents in the room — not later, not after the vote — but NOW.

Two upcoming actions will directly affect our property values, wells, historic cemeteries, and rural quality of life.  Your presence matters more than ever.

BALLOON TEST — WE NEED RESIDENTS WATCHING & DOCUMENTING

The Historic Commission has requested that Luck Stone conduct a balloon test to simulate the height and visibility of the quarry structures.  Balloon tests can be positioned or timed to minimize what the public sees — which is why we need independent community oversight.  If you see the balloon:  take photos from your property and nearby roads, note date, time, and weather conditions, share your photos with the community.  Simply documenting ensures an honest public record.

Our community — not the applicant — deserves the full truth.

HISTORIC COMMISSION MEETING — WE NEED EVERY SEAT FILLED

Tuesday, February 3, 2026 — 6:00 PM
Hanover County Administration Building — 2nd Floor

At the December Historic Commission meeting, members raised multiple questions that the applicant still needed to answer — so the review was continued and another meeting was scheduled for February 3 to address those unresolved issues.  Serious deficiencies in Luck Stone’s second cultural and cemetery submission were identified, including:

• failure to fully identify and map cemetery areas
• failure to define the recorded ¼-acre cemetery parcel
• lack of research on families and descendants
• insufficient evaluation of viewshed impacts
• incomplete study of cultural and historic resources

These are not small paperwork issues.

They affect:

private property rights, cemetery access and legal protections, land-disturbance and compliance, future precedent for industrial projects in our rural communities

This meeting is where questions get asked — or don’t.  Where accountability happens — or doesn’t.

And that depends on whether the public shows up.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEAK — YOUR PRESENCE IS POWERFUL

You can simply:  sit, observe, and be counted, show that residents are watching, remind decision-makers that real families are affected.  Public bodies make different decisions when the room is full of citizens — not empty chairs.  Even one hour of your time makes a difference.

Bring a neighbor. Bring a friend. Bring someone who cares about:  their property, their well water, their heritage, their rural community

This is about protecting the place we call home

Thank you to everyone who stands with our community.  If you plan to attend — or want updates on the balloon test — please comment or message us.  The email address is stopnoelrockquarry@gmail.com.

Your support and your presence matter now more than ever.  Let’s fill the room. Let’s keep eyes on the process. Let’s stand together.
