STOP low flying aircraft over our neighbourhoods!

STOP low flying aircraft over our neighbourhoods!
The Issue
A major operational change has put more aircraft than ever over communities that previously got little noise overhead.
On November 28 2022, with zero public consultation, NAV Canada moved the primary arrival/departure flights directly over us from another community.
As a result, neighbourhoods such as West Humber, Oakville North, and Streetsville are dealing with a 50-100% increase in low aircraft noise, compared to pre-pandemic. (see Before/After images below).
These changes have negatively impacted our physical and mental health, and many studies have shown excessive exposure to airplane noise is linked to higher risks of heart attacks, and other health problems.
When these changes were first announced, NAV Canada announced this change would be “temporary and limited to a few hours in the middle of the day,” (see paragraph 4 here): https://www.navcanada.ca/en/air-traffic/airspace-reviews/toronto-pearson---rnp-ar.aspx
We are now 3 years since these changes began, and not only are these changes looking permanent with no end date, this configuration lasts all day, redirecting hundreds of aircraft over these neighbourhoods that used to only get offloads.
Airport officials were questioned by the media, and responded with “no fight path changes have been made.”
While this is true, the majority of arriving/departing aircraft have moved to a flight path that used to be significantly less busy before, during an easterly Land 1 Depart 1 operation.
The affected communities now have to deal with aircraft every 2 minutes for hours on end, which previously wasn’t an issue until Nov 2022.
We can no longer enjoy our backyards in peace, or get proper sleep anymore. Plenty of studies have shown the negative impacts airplane noise has on physical and mental health.
This is not an issue where we bought under an already-established busy flight path and complain later.
This is an issue where the airport makes changes after a community was built, and residents that moved in before these changes now have to deal with the aftermath.
The airport has refused to tell us when we’ll see relief from these changes, which prompted us to create this petition.
We understand that aircraft need to fly over neighbourhoods as it's a way of life in the GTA.
What we’re against however are changes like this that put a far greater amount of noise overhead, without properly consulting those that may be affected. That's exactly what the GTAA/Nav Canada have done.
We are calling on NAV Canada, and the federal government to reverse this change as this has ruined the quality of life of many residents.
In the meantime, submit noise complaints using the airports online portal: https://webtrak.emsbk.com/gta
