PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION - STOP LOUD VEHICLES, LLC
We are thrilled to announce that our organization has officially incorporated and been granted non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This significant milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter in our journey to make a positive impact in Georgia.
Our incorporation signifies formal recognition as a legally established entity. This status not only gives us a solid foundation but also strengthens our capacity to pursue our mission with greater structure and governance. It allows us to build credibility and trust with our supporters, partners, and the communities we serve.
We know loud vehicles cause multiple health issues such as:
- Hearing loss
- Increased triggers for PTSD, sensory disorders
- Sleep, fatigue headaches
- Elevated blood pressure
- Stress, anxiety, depression
- Digestive disorders AND MORE….
We know loud vehicles create multiple public safety issues such as:
- Inability for other vehicles to hear emergency vehicles
- Pedestrian inability to hear their surroundings
- Inability for pedestrians to hear emergency vehicles
- Distracted drivers AND MORE……
Here we are in the 2025 Legislative session, and we continue to hear loud vehicles at all times of the day and night. As we move forward, we are more committed than ever to our mission of protecting our health and safety by reducing the noise pollution from loud vehicles. These vehicles include sports cars, ATVs, motorcycles, vehicles with modified or no muffler and more.
The Georgia code specifies in Section 40-8-71 paragraph (c):
“It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale any muffler which causes excessive or unusual noise or annoying smoke or any muffler cutout, bypass, or similar device for use on a motor vehicle or for any person to use, to sell, or to offer for sale any motor vehicle equipped with any such muffler, muffler cutout, bypass, or similar device. Any person violating this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.”
However, nowhere in the Georgia Code does it provide for a definition of “excessive or unusual noise” nor is there a provision to enforce this section of the code. With a definition and or provision to enforce this part of the code, visitors and residents would enjoy improved public health and safety.
To document the many incidents of loud vehicles, please download the CDC Decibel Meter (CDC Decibel Meter) and complete our survey (www.noisesurveygeorgia.com) as often as you can when you hear a loud vehicle. To increase the validity of the survey, we need multiple responses from you.
