The wonderful news is we have a bill – HB 1219. The bill was changed to being a bill requesting a pilot be conducted throughout the state. It has been assigned to the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. As it goes through committees, there will be changes. The committee has not heard the bill yet but that is where we REALLY need your help.

The committees have so many bills assigned to them there is no way they can hear all of the bills. The committee chair is Representative J. Collins from Villa Rica, GA. We need everyone, all their family and all their friends to email him. His email is j.collins@house.ga.gov  Please email him and tell him why this bill is important to you. Please refer to the equipment as noise detection technology not cameras.

Here are some health issues that have been documented to be caused by or to hasten the development of.

Hearing loss

Increase triggers for PTSD, sensory disorders

Sleep Loss, Fatigue, headaches

Elevated blood pressure

Stress, anxiety, depression

Distracted drivers

Loss of quality of life

Digestive disorders

If you or someone you know is impacted by any of these issues, share the story. We heard today from someone who had a sister who is deaf. Apparently, the vibration from loud vehicles is very painful to her. She “hears” the vibrations, and it impacts her inner ear.

According to a study from Mass General Hospital date June 12, 2023, those who live near loud transportation noises are more likely to have highly activated regions of the brain primarily associated emotional processes, arterial inflammation and within 5 years major cardiac events.

One public safety issue is that vehicles and pedestrians cannot hear emergency vehicles.

According to National Geographic Oct 2023 Noise pollution also impacts the health and well-being of wildlife. Studies have shown loud noises can cause caterpillars' dorsal vessels (the insect equivalent of a heart) to beat faster, and cause bluebirds to have fewer chicks. Animals use sound for a variety of reasons, including to navigate, find food, attract mates, and avoid predators. Noise pollution makes it difficult for them to accomplish these tasks, which affects their ability to survive.

These are just some points you can reference. Please email Representative J. Collins right away. This is important as we are approaching the end of time, they can hear the bill.

Please continue to share the petition everywhere. And go to the website www.noisesurveygeorgia.com This is a statewide survey to show how vehicle noise affects people across the state.

Thank you for all your support! We will get there!!
