STOP LGBTIQ+DISCRIMINATION
The Issue
STOP DISCRIMINATION, TORTURE AND MISTREATMENT OF LGBTIQ+ REFUGEES IN KAKUMA REFUGEE CAMP.
We stand as freedom fighters of LGBTIQ+ lives and rights as activists
Dear Advocates for Human Rights and Equality,
We, the undersigned members of the LGBTIQ+ community living in Kakuma Refugee Camp, come to you today with a heavy heart and a strong sense of urgency. We stand with one voice to say no to the injustices and discrimination that have been inflicted upon us and to demand an end to the ongoing violence and torture that we face on a daily basis.

As refugees who have sought safety and refuge from conflict and persecution, we should not have to endure further suffering and discrimination within the confines of the camp. Yet, this is the reality for many of us. We are subjected to brutal attacks and physical violence from fellow refugees who hold homophobic views, leaving us with deep wounds and scars that often result in physical disability. Some of our community members have even lost their lives in these attacks.
In addition to these violent acts, we also face police brutality and mistreatment from those who are supposed to protect us. This has led to a climate of fear and insecurity within the camp, where we are unable to live freely and openly as members of the LGBTIQ+ community.
We are tired of living in fear and we demand an end to these injustices. It is unacceptable that our fellow refugees, who came to this camp seeking safety and refuge, are now perpetrating further violence and discrimination against us. We call upon you to join us in advocating for our rights, justice, equality, and freedom.

We need your voice and support to bring attention to this issue and to put pressure on those in power to ensure that the LGBTIQ+ community living in Kakuma Refugee Camp is protected from discrimination, violence, and abuse. We need your help to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all refugees, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
