My heart aches as I write this, knowing that our government is shooting our wild brumbies. These animals are not just horses; they carry rare DNA, making them an irreplaceable part of our natural heritage. They are sentient beings who have adapted to their environment and are not the threat they're made out to be.

These brumbies are post-native, acknowledging their long history on this land. Yet, they face lethal aerial culling - a practice both cruel and unnecessary. The Kosciuszko National Park (KNP) used to be a sanctuary for these animals where rehoming efforts were possible. Now it stands closed off to those who wish to save these magnificent creatures.

There's an alternative solution available - rehoming the wild brumbies instead of resorting to lethal methods. This approach has proven successful, preserving wildlife while maintaining ecological balance.

We urge the government to reconsider its stance on this issue and reopen KNP for wild brumby rehoming efforts immediately. Let us work together towards humane solutions that respect all life forms.
