The Issue

I am a certified Herpetologist, and an urban farmer. Not only do I believe that amphibians and reptiles are important to our environment, but it is PROVEN that they are some of the most important organisms in our environment. The Georgia DNR labels native species such as venomous snakes, freshwater turtles, frogs, and other as nuisances. This allows the legal killing of those species.

Turtles help to keep waters clean and other aquatic organisms safe. Snakes help to control the balance of organisms in the environment. These are just some examples on to how important amphibians and reptiles are to our environment. If we keep killing these species the balance within ecosystems in our state will be offput. These killings have become so popular that venomous snakes have a recognized hunting season.

My goal is to use this petition as proof that people believe in protecting the amphibians and reptiles in our ecosystem. I want to fight the legal killing of these species to help create a better future for our ecosystem and humans. By supporting our environment we support the lives of humans as well.
