Stop Killing Dogs in Iraq

Stop Killing Dogs in Iraq
The Issue
More than a million stray dogs in Baghdad will be inhumanely killed in the biggest campaign of dog execution ever, in an attempt to reduce the animal overpopulation problem. So far, over 58,000 have been killed by poisoned meat and rifle shots. The process of reducing the stray dog population to a "manageable" level is expected to take approximately a year.
The population of stray dogs in Iraq has increased over the past years, but the current method to deal with the issue, besides being inhumane, will not work in the long-run. The only way for the government to reduce the stray population is by adopting a more humane and effective long-term policy.
