EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF COUNCIL- Tuesday 7 April 2026

Kiama Council today, the Thursday before Good Friday, sent an email their staff informing them that at an extraordinary meeting next Tuesday their jobs will be on the line. No consultation, no fair notice, no time to gather community support.

Please sign this petition to express your disapproval and disgust not only of the low treatment of the staff in question, but also your disgust and the continued removal of services from the community of Kiama.

This meeting propose the removal of Level 2 – Discretionary Services this will include the 

• Cessation of non-legislated services (Community)
  - Youth
  - Cultural
  - Community
• Reduce scope of Visitor Services
• Library - reduce operating hours
• Leisure Centre – reduce span of operating hours
• Cease Council contributed pensioner rebate of $25 per pensioner
• Cease patrolling Easts Beach caravan park
• Cease Destination Kiama, RADO, and all other sponsorships
• Library site in the down stairs history and family history hub
• Cease community donations and sponsorship
• Cease community donations
• Cost recovery of Sports field maintenance
• Leisure Centre - Fees and Charges effective 5% increase C
• Cease organisational celebrations
• Merchant fees recovery
• Cemetery income increase
• Exit Commercial Waste
