This is a petition to stop Ken Witt and the school board from closing our beloved Gateway. It’s unfair because Gateway and its staff are one of the most loving and caring staff any school would be lucky to have. None of the other schools were scrutinized so hard! Why this one? Ask Ken. It’s unnecessary. Why is the funding for Gateway and only Gateway getting questioned? Has the monies funded to Gateway been looked at to see where it was going? Why did all this start getting bad when Ken got put in his seat as Superintendent? Why isn’t his salary being scrutinized as much as gateways funds? Don’t they both come from the same “pot”? Did you know this almost happened last year as well? They scared all the staff and students telling them it was closing but then the deal fell through so they had to rehire almost a full staff only to turn around again and say “Nevermind”??? Really? Like Gateway is someone’s piece of financial property they can “buy and flip” For a profit? What does that have to do with our children’s education? Also where are you going to put the kids? Can Columbine handle that many more kids into already overcrowded rooms? Ever heard of fire restrictions? Not to mention the decrease in learning due to the lack of personal sessions. Finally, it’s unconstitutional in the fact that these secret meetings or meetings that are held with little or no publicity are not a fair representation of the actual citizens who live in Woodland Park. THOSE are the people this affects. THOSE are the ones who have children in the schools, therefore shouldn’t those be the ones who should vote on such a crucial matter? Who voted? Ken and the board (made up of people HE appointed)??? That’s it? I didn’t vote. Did you??? This is America where we the people say what goes. Not some guy from Monument whose other job is in…what was it again???…oh ya… private charter schools….let’s do something about this!
