Stop Keir Starmer and the UK Gov from reducing PIP and implementing the 4-point rule

Stop Keir Starmer and the UK Gov from reducing PIP and implementing the 4-point rule
The Issue
This recently proposed change to the PIP care element by Keir Starmer, Liz Kendall, Rachel Reeves ,Stephen Timms and the UK government will dramatically affect many like me. Under their new scoring system, people needing assistance with lower body functions are undervalued, receiving only 2 points, while those needing help with the upper part of the body score 4 points,
Also the new revised proposals for the new pip assessment is not fit for purpose, If a person doesn't score 4 Points in the Daily Living Activities sections separately and they only score 1-3 descriptor points in each element , you will lose your daily living pip award and other dwp benefits connected to this .
This government is using the disability drip effect , giving disabled people a false sense of security , By saying everything will be ok now but if your award comes up for renewal then you will lose it because of the uk government changes With it discriminating against millions of disabled people
This change does not reflect the extent of support individuals like myself need, thus undermining our ability to live independently.
Furthermore, Starmer, Kendall, and the government have enlisted the services of Sir Charlie Mayfield, an ex-John Lewis boss with no medical qualifications, to steer this get workjng initiative. An individual's medical needs and capabilities cannot be accurately assessed by someone without relevant medical expertise.
This is not just about points or scores; it's about the dignity, independence, and quality of life of thousands of disabled individuals. Therefore, we urge Keir Starmer, Liz Kendall, Rachel Reeves and the UK Government to halt this detrimental change to the PIP care element. It's time to put people before points. Please, sign this petition and together, let's stop this unfair treatment to the disabled community.
Initially, this Labour Government seeks to marginalize individuals with disabilities by suggesting reductions to benefits designed to assist them. Now, they are also encroaching on their privacy. This constitutes an abuse of authority. Such actions represent an unlawful effort to invade personal privacy and appropriate sensitive information. Keir Starmer, Liz Kendall, and Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, should be held accountable and prosecuted for this blatant attempt to surveil vulnerable individuals and unlawfully acquire their personal data
Nonetheless, both Labour and the DWP have misrepresented the number of individuals who will be impacted by the changes to PIP. As previously noted by the Canary, a DWP impact assessment indicates that up to 370,000 existing claimants (10%) may lose their PIP eligibility as a result of new rules scheduled to take effect in November 2026, subject to parliamentary approval.
Based on my observations of the DWP's actions over the past decade it is evident that Keir Starmer, Liz Kendall, and the UK government are committed to perpetuating their policies, which seem to prioritize the maximization of fatalities while misleading the public about their true intentions.
No individual should face penalties for seeking assistance. However, the UK Government has revealed further reductions in social security, perpetuating a trend of over ten years that has undermined the systems essential for people's survival
I urge the Prime Minister to halt the cuts and focus on establishing a just and compassionate social security system that safeguards all individuals. This includes ensuring that social security benefits adequately cover the actual costs of basic necessities, engaging in consultation with social security recipients to enhance the system's effectiveness, and upholding human rights to prevent anyone from experiencing poverty.
It's crucial now, more than ever, that we stand together, unified in our plea to the UK Government to address our concerns. Let's demand a policy re-evaluation, to implement positive change that will benefit not just disabled individuals, but the intertwined network of people affected by these issues.
Raise your voice with me , sign this petition, let's show this government that the time to protect the rights of the disabled community is now. We will be seen, and we will be heard.
