The issue

Gregadoo has long been cherished as a peaceful, rural community - a vital part of the Wagga region that harmonises agricultural life with natural beauty. However, our way of life is under significant threat from proposals for massive industrial-scale developments, including the Belhaven Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), as well as another BESS project by EKU Energy, with a footprint of approximately 12 acres - and now a huge Data Centre.

These projects are set to impact our homes and community, with infrastructure potentially only a few hundred metres from our properties. Residents fear the irreversible change this will bring to our farmland, affecting agricultural productivity, disturbing local ecosystems and altering the landscape our community relies on for livelihoods and leisure.

The transformation of Gregadoo into an energy precinct will place increasing pressure on local resources - our roads, water supply and regional environment. Such developments could lead to increased traffic, pollution and disruption of the rural serenity that defines our community.

We must consider the broader impact on all of Wagga, as these changes may set a precedent for further industrialisation of rural areas.

We urge the responsible authorities and developers to halt the current proposals and genuinely engage with the community to find solutions that respect the rural character of Gregadoo.

Join us in our fight to protect Gregadoo’s rural character. By signing this petition, you stand with us in defending our community, our land and our future.
