Your support of this petition has kept Southern Land Co and the owner of Whaleneck Marina from proceeding with the plans as originally presented. Congratulations! However, their negotiations continue, and we must remain an active voice against the residential development of the property.   

Despite some recent reports within the social and neighborhood channels, it’s understood that the two parties are still in conversation about it’s sale and development. Below are some scenarios—all proving we must continue in our efforts. The Yard Sign program will still take place, but I have paused till after the election signs have been removed from properties.

Possible / Expected actions by Whaleneck and SLC:

• Present the existing plans to Merrick Residents and see if the opinion has changed
• Develop a reduced housing design and present it to Merrick Residents
• Apply for rezoning to Town of Hempstead to see what passes
• Whaleneck Marina refusing the Sale and look for other developers to purchase

• Speak with friend and family who may not be computer savvy
• Sign up for the Yard Sign on the Gofundme page
• Begin to suggest what the property COULD become since the Whaleneck owner wants to sell it
• Share and repost this Petition to gain more supporters

The two parties involved have a long contract which they are willing to explore. While I would like nothing more then to claim victory, we continue our communication against the dangers of the large scale housing development on our peninsula.

Because you’ll keep fighting to protect our neighborhood, I’ll keep messaging No Development to our opposition.
