Aloha Ohana,
PLEASE NOTE! We are only concerned about having Hogstop in Hawai'i. Hogstop as a company can do whatever they want with their business. We wish them well in their endeavors. We just don't want it in The State of Hawai`i.
Hope everyone is having a great start to the new week. We're 5 days into our movement to remove Hogstop from Hawai`i, and my goal this week is to share articles from Texas; their experiences, concerns, and opinions.
In this article, the makers of Hogstop explain briefly how the "insecticide" works, and how it is categorized with the EPA.
They also mention:
“It’s an all-natural feed bait that is made out of ingredients we feed the cattle and deer, and we just combined it in such a way to use it on feral hogs to make the boars sterile,” Loper said in an interview with the Texas Farm Bureau Radio Network. “It’s just designed to make the boars less fertile, so we can get a hold on the feral hog population.”
If you've read the articles I've posted on Gossypol in feed (100PPM) limited for safe to use, then our questions are:
How are you combining it in such a way to use on feral hogs to make the boars sterile?
Where are the studies, discoveries and other documentation to support your claims?
Did you only test your product in a controlled environment?
Did you test your product on other animals? If so, what animal types? What were the outcomes?
Because humans also have monogastric stomachs, did you test it on yourselves?
Have you eaten the meat from hogs who fed on Hogstop? What were those results?
We would like access to such documents & information before allowing it to be used in our State.
Article also goes on to mention that it affects sows as well, "but it's tougher to trace."
Mahalo Nui.
