In the US it is very easy for people to have access to guns, even teens. Our country is widely known for it’s school shootings which, in the majority of cases, kids are the ones being affected. Kids and teens are now afraid to attend school due to the amount of school shooting cases seen recently. This has greatly impacted their mental health and education but mainly for those who have experienced these traumatic events. School shootings lead to drops in student enrollment and a decline in average test scores. People constantly believe that more guns reduces crimes/ violence but this is not true . Getting rid of all guns wouldn’t fix all problems either so the reasonable solution would be to reduce the easy access to guns and have requirements as well as background checks in order to handout guns. This would be just a start as we get more people to understand that the idea of owning guns is not the solution to safety. The police should be the only ones having access to such weapons.  Our nation’s future depends on the actions we take now. The kids being impacted by school shootings now are the next generation  kids that will soon take control of our country.

This is something I care about deeply and it won’t happen without the support of people like you. Starting a petition isn’t something I would normally do, but I was moved to do so because gun violence is an issue the government seems to not care about.
