Stop General Commercial Rezoning in Marbella Vineyards
Stop General Commercial Rezoning in Marbella Vineyards
The Issue
Living in Marbella Vineyards, Gilbert, AZ, I never imagined I'd face the prospect of having a massive commercial shopping center, specifically a Target, almost at my doorstep. My driveway is merely 75 feet away from where the parking lot entrance is intended to be. This isn't just a matter of inconvenience or annoyance — having a commercial hub so close can substantially affect the value of my property. Home is where we create and cherish memories, and the preservation of its value is not just financial security but emotional stability as well.
Beyond personal impact, there's a community consideration. Marbella Vineyards is known for its serene ambiance and tight-knit neighborhood, where residents enjoy peacefulness that is increasingly rare in today's fast-paced world. The hustle and bustle of commercial development stands in stark contrast to what Marbella Vineyards represents.
For those who argue convenience, it is important to highlight that we already have ample access to Target stores within a short drive. Whether five miles east or west, we are serviced by well-established shopping centers. The introduction of yet another shopping destination seems less about serving the local community and more about corporate interests creating profit at the expense of our neighborhood's quality of life.
There are significant concerns about increased traffic, the safety of our children who play outside, noise pollution, and the unavoidable glare of bright signs at all hours. These factors do not align with the lifestyle we've chosen by living in Marbella Vineyards.
Instead of commercial development, propose more community-friendly alternatives that reflect and enhance the character of Marbella Vineyards. Consider green spaces, community parks, or facilities that residents can benefit from without the undesirable impact of noise and traffic. These alternative uses for the land can serve the neighborhood's best interests far better.
Sign this petition to urge local authorities to reconsider the rezoning application and focus on proposals that preserve the essence of Marbella Vineyards. Together, we can prevent irreversible changes to our beloved neighborhood's environment and maintain the sanctuary we've all come to love and rely on.
