We, the undersigned, believe that the BBC, as a publicly funded broadcaster, has a duty to report on global events with balance, integrity, and accountability. We are deeply concerned about the BBC’s coverage of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, which we believe disproportionately reflects the perspective of the Israeli government while failing to adequately represent the suffering and human rights of the Palestinian people.

As UK residents and licence fee payers, we object to our money being used to support an institution that we feel is failing its public mandate for impartiality. Until the BBC addresses these issues transparently and reforms its editorial standards, we call for an end to the mandatory TV licence fee.

We call for:

A public review of the BBC’s coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict by an independent media ethics body.

Greater representation of Palestinian voices and experiences in BBC reporting.
The right to opt out of the licence fee until the BBC meets its obligations to impartiality and truth.
