Flock Safety cameras, which are Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), are criticized primarily for creating a massive, unregulated surveillance network that tracks the movements of law-abiding citizens. While proponents argue they help police solve crimes, critics—including privacy advocates like the ACLU and EFF—highlight serious risks regarding privacy, data misuse, and civil liberties.

These cameras are a violation of our 4th amendment rights. The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects individuals against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government, establishing the right to privacy in persons, houses, papers, and effects. It requires warrants to be supported by probable cause, particularly describing the place to be searched and items to be seized.
